If you’ve expected motherhood to be a joyous time, the reality of some of the pressures can hit hard. Everyone talks about ‘enjoying every moment.’ If you find that you’re not, it’s easy to feel like something’s wrong or even feel like you are failing. Perhaps you’re constantly worrying, feeling overwhelmed or finding it difficult to switch off. Maybe you’re experiencing low mood, self-doubt, guilt or intrusive thoughts, or simply don’t feel like yourself anymore.

You might be here because…

  • You’re feeling anxious or constantly worried since becoming a mum
  • You’re feeling overwhelmed by the demands of motherhood
  • You’re struggling with low mood or finding it difficult to enjoy things
  • You haven’t been feeling like yourself since becoming a mum
  • You’re struggling with intrusive thoughts, including fears about something bad happening to you or your baby
  • You’re finding the transition into motherhood difficult and struggling with confidence, guilt or the pressure to be a perfect mum

Working with me

I’m Meera, a qualified mental health nurse and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 10 years of specialist clinical experience in mental health. I’ve worked across the NHS and private healthcare, including the Priory and Bupa, before establishing Brighter Minds. I offer online CBT to support women through the transition of motherhood. The aim isn’t to become a ‘perfect’ mum but to learn to feel ‘good enough.’

As a mum myself, I understand that whilst pouring our energy into raising a family, we can find we lack time and energy for ourselves. I aim to help you learn to care for yourself whilst caring for your family and make sure the work we do is realistic and achievable for you and your lifestyle.

I work with women at all stages of their parenting journey. Whether you’re pregnant, in the early postnatal period or adjusting to changes as your children grow, you may find yourself needing support managing the stage you are in. Equally, lots of us want to take proactive measures to feel our best before embarking on parenthood and may be looking for support during the earlier stages of family planning.
